Doris "Jackie" Smith

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Doris Jean “Jackie” Smith, age 87, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Thursday, August 23, 2012 at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Jimmy Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Smith was born in Charleston, WV on June 22, 1925 to the late Charles Ryder and Reid Ballard Ryder. She was an active member of Spring Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, but also handled the secretarial work and bookkeeping for her husband’s business. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Kenneth Orten Smith of Donalsonville, GA; a daughter, Joyce Good of Donalsonville, GA; a sister, Louise Burdette of Charleston, WV; five grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ryder and Reid Ballard Ryder; three sisters, Frances Gulley, Nancy Moyer, and Evelyn Ryder; her son, Kenneth Gerald Smith; and a son-in-law, Martin L. Good. Active pallbearers will be Frank Fitch, Lee Fitch, Terry Smith, Bob Kirkham, Jimmy Smith, and Richard Morrissey. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
