IDUS LAMAR GOOCHER

September 11, 1927 — August 20, 2012

Mr. Idus Lamar Goocher, age 84, of Donalsonville, GA passed away Monday morning, August 20, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, with Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, with Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation for Mr. Goocher will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Lamar was born in Colquitt, GA on September 11, 1927 to the late Idus Jay Goocher and Lessie Arnett Goocher. He was a 1944 graduate of Miller County High School. Following graduation, he served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and later retired from the US Postal Service in 1985. Lamar was also an active member of the Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville and was very involved in many church groups and activities. Survivors include his wife, Eloyce Faircloth Goocher of Donalsonville, GA; two sons, Robert Goocher and his wife Jan of Newburgh, IN, and Bill Goocher and his wife Cathy of Dunedin, FL; a daughter, Jill Miley and her husband Kenny of Havana, FL; eight grandchildren, Madelyn Goocher of New Orleans, LA, Melissa Goocher of Charleston, SC, Alison Denison and her husband Brett of Torrance, CA, Jocelyn Schwab and her husband Daniel of England, Jerry Konstantatos and his wife Amy of Clearwater, FL, Maria Lozada and her husband Hector of Tampa, FL, Tina Drosos of Clearwater, FL, and Lyle Miley of Havana, FL; two sisters, Sara Davis of Woodstock, GA and Martha Ford of Donalsonville, GA; and three great grandchildren. Casketbearers will be Greg Davis, Warren Davis, John Goocher, Joe Goocher, Tommy Powers and David Vines. Honorary casketbearers will be Grow Sunday School Class, Davis Ponder and Thomas Vines.
