MABEL ALYCE MURPHY DUNLAP

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Mabel Alyce Murphy Dunlap, age 83, of Port St. Joe, Fl. and formerly of Jakin, who passed away Sunday evening, June 12, 2005 at Bay St. Joseph Care and Rehab Center in Port St. Joe. Funeral services for Mrs. Dunlap will be held on Tuesday afternoon, June 14, 2005 at 4:00 at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with David Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in the Jakin Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jakin, GA. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the chapel. Mrs. Dunlap was born in the Oakgrove Community in LaGrange, GA on Feb. 3, 1922 to the late Harvey Judson and Rose Eunice Shortt Murphy. She was married to Garland Britt Dunlap for 47 years until he preceded her in death. Mrs. Dunlap worked for many years as a PBX Operator and a receptionist, having worked with St. Joe Paper Co., Kimberly Clark, and Daniel Construction Co. She was of the Church of Christ faith. Mrs. Dunlap leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Harvey Britt Dunlap and his wife Margaret of Jakin, GA; two daughters, Judieth D. Browning and Shaleen Smith and her husband Donnie all of Wewahitchka, FL; and one brother, J.K. Murphy of LaGrange, GA. Six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Dunlap was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Garland B. Dunlap; a brother, Emmett E. Murphy; a granddaughter, Rejina Christine Smith; and two great grandchildren, "Clayboy" Smith and Kayla Renee' Smith. Pallbearers will be Donnie Smith, Roy Goddin, Gaylen Murphy, Ken Murphy, Glen Mitchell, and Philip Daugherty. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Potters Children's Home or Tennessee Bible College. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
