We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Vera Cosby Thomas, age 95, of Wilmington NC, formerly of Donalsonville, GA, who passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Trinity Grove. Graveside services will be held Friday, July 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. James Scarborough officiating. She was born November 21, 1916 in Selma, AL to the late William J. and Maggie L. McCallum Cosby. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was active in and a past president of the Georgia Women’s Golf Association and the Georgia Senior Women’s Golf Association. Her hobbies were needlework and golf. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Dr. Ross Henry Thomas, III and his wife Judy of Albany, GA and Cosby T. Thomas and his wife Susan of Wilmington, NC; one brother, William B. Cosby of Stateline, MS; and a sister-in-law, Helen Thomas of Dothan, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Terrell Thomas (Susan), Lynn Fielding (Dan), Allen Thomas, Keith Thomas (Amanda), and Leslye Stalvey (Gary); as well as her great grandchildren, McKenzie Fielding, Taylor Fielding, Jackson Fielding, Benjamin Ross Thomas, Emma Thomas, Ross Thomas, Devan Thomas, Savannah Thomas, London Thomas, Meredith Stalvey, Ava Stalvey, Henry Thomas and Sumner Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William J. and Maggie L. McCallum Cosby; her husband, Ross Thomas, Jr.; a brother, Allen Cosby; a sister, Mary Lou Dumas; two sisters-in-law, Rae Cosby and Rebecca D. Cosby; and a brother-in-law, Taylor Thomas.
