You may share your thoughts with the family by visiting our website at www.evansskipperfh.com. Mr. Spooner was born in Seminole County, GA on Nov. 12, 1912 to the late Lewis E. "Luke" and Delhia Jernigan Spooner. Mr. Spooner began his career in farming when he withdrew from the 8th grade at Seminole County High School to help his father with the family farm. At the age of 31, he was married to Mollie King and moved to the city of Donalsonville. He had been a proud member of Friendship United Methodist Church since 1955, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. During his career he farmed with his brother, Luther Spooner, and they established Spooner Hog Farm and opened Spooner Farm Center in the 1960s. He enjoyed serving Seminole County as a County Commissioner, a board member of Three Notch Electric Membership Corporation, a board member of Georgia Farm Bureau, a board member of Donalsonville Hospital, a committee member of the Seminole County Farmers Home Administration. He also served as President of the Georgia Pork Producers and as a shareholder in Cloverleaf Gin and Warehouse. He enjoyed farming and would say that "once you are a farmer, you're always a farmer", but his passion in his later years was fishing, for any kind of fish, in any body of water. He would have fished everyday if possible. He was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan and would plan his life around their games. He never lost his drive to live life to the fullest and did so up until his last day. Mr. Spooner leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Amy Jo Spooner Mingledorff of Huntsville, AL; a son, Shelton Spooner and his wife Donna of Bainbridge, GA; a niece, Lucia Ann Ridlehoover and her husband Joe of Donalsonville, GA; three grandchildren, Michelle Spooner Herring and her husband Joe of Dothan, AL, Heather Spooner and Christy Spooner both of Bainbridge, GA; two great grandchildren, Jackson Joseph Herring and Abigail Herring both of Dothan, AL; four brothers, Roger Spooner and his wife Eloise of Iron City, GA, Luther Spooner and his wife Martha Nell and Billy Spooner and his wife Betty Jane, both of Donalsonville, GA, and Cecil Spooner and his wife Mary Anne of Stone Mountain, GA; and many nieces and nephews.
