We regret to announce the passing of John Henry "Jay" Godby, Jr, age 78, of Brinson, GA who passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2005 at 2:00 PM at New Enterprise Freewill Baptist Church in Iron City, GA with Rev. Luther Hastey officiating, with interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 26, from 7:00-9:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Godby was born in Seminole County on August 21,1926 to the late John Henry, Sr. and Isabella Eley Godby. Mr. Godby had lived in this area all his life, he was a prominent farmer and of the Baptist Faith. He is survived by his wife Doris Tomlin Godby; one daughter Gloria Faye Sensor of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; and three sons Johnny Gary Godby and Gerald Lee Godby and his wife Amanda all of Brinson, GA; Michael Godby and his wife Holly of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home of Donalsonville, GA has been entrusted with the arrangements.
