We regret to announce the passing of Emma Jean Mathis, age 66, of Iron City, GA who passed away Thursday afternoon, September 20, 2007 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Iron City Baptist Church with Rev. Luther Hastey officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Friday, September 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Mathis was born in Ware County, GA on October 15, 1940 to the late Frank Akin and Elizabeth Barnes Akin Rabon. She worked as a bookkeeper and was a member of Iron City Baptist Church. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Darryl Mathis of Iron City, GA; two sons Keith Mathis and his wife Karen of Panama City, FL; Ray Mathis and his wife, Kim of Alabaster, AL; two daughters, Laura Lovering and her husband, Michael and Robyn Herring and her husband, Richard both of Iron City, GA; two sisters, Nell McClain and her husband Robert of Waycross, GA and Sara Ann Brackin of Iron City, GA She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Elizabeth Mathis, Jason Mathis, Callie Mathis, Rachel Mathis and Jacob Herring. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Green "Little Pud" Rabon, Jr. and Jack L. Barnes. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
