We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Lillian Williams, age 98, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the Donalsonville Hospital ER. Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2:00 PM. at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA with Dr. Ron King and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at 1:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Donalsonville, GA. Entombment will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Born February 23, 1914 in Robbinsville, NC, she was the daughter of the late William Homer and Mellie Sawyer Cable. She graduated Reinhardt College and received an M.S. Degree in Education and Library Science from Oglethrope University. She was a teacher and librarian for 35 years in the Canton, Miller, Cherokee, DeKalb, Irwin, and Cobb County School Systems. After returning to her husband's hometown, she became a member of First Baptist Church, and was president and a member of the Pure Gold Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and past president and member of Garden Clubs of Georgia. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Bright and her husband Dave and a grandson, David Bright, all of Donalsonville, GA; one brother, Forrest Sawyer of Canton, GA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Buford B. Williams and sisters, Helen Dee Wallace and Beulah Cline.
