We regret to announce the passing of A. W. Smith, age 87, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away at his residence on Friday, August 31, 2007. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 2, 2007 at 3:30 PM at Springfield Baptist Church in Jakin, GA with Rev. Fred Odom officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 1, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mr. Smith was born in Henry County, AL on February 25, 1920 to the late Charlie and Cora Lee Adams Smith. He was a farmer and a member of Springfield Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years Ruth Smith and his son Larry Smith both of Donalsonville, GA; three daughters Marilyn Sowell and her husband Doug of Columbia, AL, Helen Turner and her husband Buck of Ozark, AL and Karen Kimbrel and her husband Billy of Colquitt, GA; one brother Billy Smith of Nashville, GA; and two sisters, Altha Barber of Jakin, GA and Robbie Kesler of Atlanta, GA. Seven grandchildren Teri Ward,Tucker Smith and his wife Rhonda, Tracy Smith, Chad Higginbotham and his wife Becky, Amy Hume and her husband Bruce, Suzanne Erp and her husband Jackson, and Desiree Haseldon and her husband Mike as well as seven great grandchildren Tyler Smith, Bailey Troyer, Quint Hume, Karson Erp, Morgan Erp, Emma Haseldon, and Acea Haseldon. He is also survived by two special nieces, Rita S. Bowen and husband George of Donalsonville, GA and Joann Davis of Auburndale, FL, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Tucker Smith, Tracy Smith, Chad Higginbotham, David Barber, Mitch Smith, Jeff Smith and George Bowen. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Springfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Greg Smith and a granddaughter DeeDee Smith.
