CLIFFORD EUGENE BARTON

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Clifford Eugene Barton, age 76, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Tuesday morning, August 28, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Barton will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with the Rev. Edwin Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, August 29, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home chapel. Mr. Barton was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee on Feb. 3, 1931 to the late James and Mary Rogers Barton. He worked for many years in the construction industry. Mr. Barton was a member of Reynolds Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Barton leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Gayla Barton of Donalsonville, GA; 1 daughter, Gail Collins and her husband Mike of Knoxville, TN; 4 sons, Steve Barton and his wife Diane of Charlotte, NC, Paul Cross and his wife Kelly of Atlanta, GA, Charles Cross, Jr. and his wife Vicky of Atlanta, GA, and Jack Barton; 2 brothers, Verl Barton and his wife Hortense of Charlestown, Indiana, Howard Barton and his wife Elizabeth of Montgomery, Alabama; 5 sisters, Nell Stephens and her husband Ed of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Dorthy Edwards of Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, Elaine Fly and her husband John of Columbia, Tennessee, Violet Boswell and her husband Elmer of Franklin, Tennessee, and Goldie Farrelly and her husband Jerry of Brentwood, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Rogers Barton; a daughter, Jennifer Power; a brother, Frank Barton; and two sisters, Dezzie Pilkinton and Waymond Bradley. Pallbearers will be Clifford Watson, Schley Ricketson, Harold Coppinger, Milton Wisham, David Murkerson and Neal Murphy. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
