We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Ladon “Duke” Burke, age 68, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Herman Enfinger and Rev. Charles Barineau officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. He was born in Donalsonville, GA on December 30, 1943 to the late Gordon and Ester Bodiford Burke. He was a member of Hopewell Full Gospel Church and also a member of the Seminole County Young Farmers. He owned and operated a trucking company. He is survived by his wife Linda Burke of Iron City. GA; son, Brad Burke and his wife Angie of Donalsonville, GA; daughter, Lola Givens and her husband Allen of Donalsonville, GA. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Chelsea Givens, Justin Burke, Ivy Powell, Carlee Burke and Landre Powell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Ester Bodiford Burke, a daughter, Bridgett Powell, a brother, Lamar Burke, two sisters, Ruby Doris Harlow and Betty Smith. Casketbearers will be Richard Spooner, Marlon James, Jimmy Miller, Phillip Williams, Randy Earnest, Melvin Henry, Dallas Waddell, and Scott Smith.
