We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Nell Gentry Newberry, age 80, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Friday, December 2, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Newberry will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Dennis and Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Interment will follow in the Arlington City Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Newberry was born in Blakely, GA on July 29 1931 to the late Junius Clay and Pearl Sprouse Gentry. She married her late husband Jack William Newberry Sr. on December 24, 1949 and they moved to Donalsonville in the fall of 1961. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Donalsonville, GA; operated Newberry’s Young Fashions for many years; was a realtor with Clarke Realty and Secretary for the local Chamber of Commerce; was known as a “people” person and loved her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Jack W. Newberry, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Donalsonville, GA; one daughter, Cathy Perry and her husband Andre’ of Alpharetta, GA; one brother, Don Gentry and his wife Dot of Marietta, GA; two sisters, Mabel Craft of Blakely, GA and Nadine Cheek of Senoia, GA; eight grandchildren, Erica S. Bland, Jordan Newberry, Jackson Newberry, Garrett Gilmore, Camille Gilmore, Caila Perry, Sydney Perry and Scott Perry and her caregivers, Karen Rogerson and Dorothy Bryant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Junius Clay and Pearl Sprouse Gentry; her husband Jack Newberry, Sr.; three brothers, Junius Gentry, Clayton Gentry, and Harold “Buddy” Gentry and one stillborn son, John Clayton Newberry. Casketbearers will be Jordan Newberry, Jackson Newberry, Garrett Gilmore, Scott Perry, Billy Shingler and Jim Shingler.
