We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Joan Widner, age 74, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Widner will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Luther Hastey and Rev. Morgan Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, July 11, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs. Widner was born on November 4, 1932 in Early Co., GA to the late Cordy Timothy and Ruby Clyde Houston Williams. She was a certified medical records technician and worked for many years in this capacity at Seminole Memorial Hospital and at the State Hospital in Bainbridge. She was married to Ivey G. "Junior" Widner who preceded her in death in 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville. Mrs. Widner leaves to cherish her memory a son, Terry Widner and his wife Michele of Tallahassee, FL and a daughter, Sharon Hodges and her husband Benny of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Marian Hunter, Bryant Hodges, Jake Hodges, and Cordy Widner, as well as a great granddaughter, Madison Hunter. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cordy and Ruby Clyde Williams; her husband, Junior Widner; three sisters, Ruby Hammock, Jewel Alday, and Myrtice Martin; and a brother, Emory Williams. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
