Sybil Elaine Sawyer

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Sybil Wilson Sawyer, age 84, of Brinson, GA who passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Sawyer will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Donna Bevels, Rev. James Scarborough, and Rev. Roy Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held immediately following the service on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Bethany Baptist Church. Mrs. Sawyer was born in Leary, GA on November 30, 1926 to the late Perry Joseph and Dollie Alday Wilson. She was a homemaker, and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school in the children’s department for many years. She also was a volunteer at the State Hospital. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 69 years Norman Sawyer of Brinson, GA; two daughters, Norma Gambrell and her husband Barry of Greenville, SC; Gail Trolinger and her husband Jody of Bainbridge, GA; brother, Larry Wilson and his wife Lois of Albany, GA; sister, Jewell Knight of Mineral Wells, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren,Shaye Gambrell of Athens, GA, Clifford Gambrell (Doylene) of Murfreesboro, TN, Jennifer Hall (Charles) of Brinson, GA, Joey Whittington of Bainbridge, GA, Paul Trolinger (Stephanie) of Newnan, GA, Kevin Trolinger (Lisa) of Valdosta, GA, Patrick Trolinger (Rachel) of Bainbridge, GA; great grandchildren, Sarah Cabiness, Ashley Gambrell, Sawyer, Matt and Will Hall, Cole and Alexis Trolinger, Brayden Trolinger, Taylor Swanner, and Sydnee Strickland. She was preceded in death by her parents,Perry Joseph and Dollie Alday Wilson; five brothers and two sisters. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
