WALTER NEAL HALL, SR.

July 20, 1928 — June 5, 2007

We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Walter Neal Hall, Sr., age 78, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Hall will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Friendship United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Loyless officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Memorial Gardens in Donalsonville. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 6, 2007 in the chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Hall was born in Bemus, GA on July 20, 1928 to the late Jessie Hampton and Mamie Griffin Hall. He grew up and around Valdosta, GA. He married Mary Beth Humphreys on April 24, 1949 and their four children were born in Valdosta. Mr. Hall joined Forest St. Methodist Church in Valdosta in 1954 and was an active member until he moved to Donalsonville in 1963 to work at the paper mill near Cedar Springs. He moved his family to Donalsonville in 1964 and he and his family joined the Friendship United Methodist Church where he was an active member until his health failed. After retiring from the paper mill, Mr. Hall worked many years for GFA. He was a numistmatist dealing in rare coins. Mr. Hall leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Mary Beth Hall of Donalsonville, GA; one son, Walter Neal Hall, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Jakin, GA; three daughters, Beth Hall Lane and her husband Gerald of Donalsonville, GA, Sherrie Hall Shown and her husband Bob of Statesboro, GA, and Glenda K. Hall Shepard and her husband Stephen of Dothan, AL. Also surviving are three grandchildren, G. Kirby Lane, Jr. and his wife Wendy of Thompson's Station, TN, PFC Walter Tex Sheffield and his wife Julia stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and he will be deployed to Afghanistan in June, and Melissa Chase of Donalsonville; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Cady Lane; a great-niece, Babette Vallee and her husband Chris of Derby, KS; a nephew, Joseph Garvey and his wife Joan of New Jersey, a great nephew, Kevin Garvey of New York, great nieces Stacey Garvey and Kimberly Garvey of Franklin, PA, and dear, special friends Martha Williams, Nashanda Williams, Asia Williams, and Kea Williams. Pallbearers will be Fred Brackin, Raymond Wilson, Stephen Shepard, Robert Shown, Gerald Lane and G. Kirby Lane, Jr. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
