Inez Glisson Cook

We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Inez Glisson Cook age 81, of Pansey, AL who passed away Friday, June 24, 2011 at Extendicare Health and Rehab Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 2:00 PM CST at Springhill Free Will Baptist Church in Gordon, AL. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cook was born September 23, 1929 to the late John Andrew Glisson and Annie Bell Bullock Glisson. She lived all of her life in the Gordon and Pansey area. She worked for Wiregrass Electric Cooperative for 39 years before retiring. She was married to Collie Cook for 54 years before his passing on January 2, 2011. The joys of her life were her two great grandchildren, Shelby Laine Sumlar and Xander Sumlar. Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter, Cathy and her husband Bobby Sumlar of Pansey, AL; two grandchildren, Eric and his wife Cameron Sumlar of Gordon, AL, and Sheena Sumlar of Pansey, AL; two great grandchildren, Shelby Laine Sumlar of Pansey, AL, and William Alexander “Xander” Sumlar of Gordon, AL; one sister, Ruth Blocker of Phenix City, AL. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents John Andrew Glisson and Annie Bell Bullock Glisson; her husband, Collie Cook; four brothers, Alto Glission, Jim Glisson, Randolph “Ran” Glisson, Curtis Glisson; two sisters, Lottie Jordan, and Via Walker. Casketbearers will be Tommy Whitehead, Tim Harper, Gary Sumlar, Steven Moore, Danny Hicks, and Eugene Odom. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
