We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Imogene Cooley Helms, age 77, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Tim Bell officiating. Interment will follow at Salem Seminole Baptist Church Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Friday, June 24, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville. Mrs. Helms was born in Fountain, FL on April 6, 1934 to the late Ernest Elliott and Gladys Fowler Cooley. She attended Iron City Baptist Church and worked as a bank teller at Commerical State Bank retiring in March 1999. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Steven Craig Helms and his wife Lisa of Belleville, IL; a daughter, Karen Hill and her husband Patrick of Donalsonville, GA; three brothers, John Cooley and his wife Mavis of Madison, AL; Francis Cooley and his wife Jewell of Palatka, FL; Tom Cooley and his wife Barbara of Douglasville, GA; two sisters-in-law Blonnie Cooley of Hiawassi, GA and Hattie Nelson of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by two granddaughters, Sara Helms of Coeu d’Alene, ID and Kacie Hill of Donalsonville, GA She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Elliott Cooley and Gladys Fowler Cooley; her husband, Herbert Hoover Helms and a brother James Cooley. Active casketbearers will be Marc Godby, John Hill, Billy Coy Williams, Alton Harrison, Bruce Bullock and Loren Rathel. Honorary casketbearers will retired and active members of the Georgia State Patrol Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
