We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Irene Roberts, age 84, of Colquitt, GA who passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Donalsonville Hospital. Funeral services for Mrs. Roberts will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011, at 2:00 PM at the First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville, GA with Rev. Steve Hood, Rev. Eric Boomer, and Rev. Scott Messer officiating. Interment will follow in Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 15, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mrs.Roberts was born in Early County, GA on October 11, 1926 to the late Robert Lee and Leila Phillips Stuart. She was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Donalsonville, GA as long as her health allowed. She was instrumental in the planning of the Senior Adult Ministry at the church. Mrs. Roberts worked for over 30 years with Donalsonville Hospital as a nursing assistant. She loved fishing, crocheting, and embroidery. Most of all, Mrs. Roberts enjoyed spending time with her family. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Bubba Roberts and his wife Tina of Donalsonville, GA; three daughters, Gayle Spence and her husband Danny of Colquitt, GA, Karen Bodrey and her husband Bill of Donalsonville, GA, and Dale Whittaker and her husband Glenn of Donalsonville, GA; a brother, Roy Stuart and his wife Eileen of Arlington, GA; two sisters, Ruth Milliner of Damascus, GA and Dora Patterson and her husband Hoyt of Damascus, GA. Nine grandchildren, Dana Powell and her husband Dale, Julia Rutledge and her husband Ralph, Tiffany Atkinson and her husband Roger, Krista Bellomy and her husband Brad, Bethany Kihnley and her husband Stephen, Keri Greene and her husband Tony, Caleb Bodrey, Jeremy Roberts and his wife Ginny, and Jason Roberts; as well as nine great grandchildren, Danielle Powell, Tanner Powell, Hunter Rutledge, Madison Rutledge, Emma Atkinson, Hannah Bellomy, Wesley Bellomy, Mara Greene, and T.J. Greene, also survive. Mrs. Roberts also is survived by two step-daughters, Betty Jones of Tallahassee, FL and Annette Burton of Chattahoochee, FL, as well as, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Leila Phillips Stuart; her husband, Idus Marcine Roberts; three brothers, Morris “Shine” Stuart, Marvin “Bud” Stuart, Ralph Stuart; and one sister, Ruby Way. Active pallbearers will be Vic Stuart, Ken Stuart, Mark Stuart, Ralph Stuart, Ray Milliner, and Dale Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the First Church of the Nazarene.
