We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Ruby Smith Bates, age 81 of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Donalsonville, GA, on Monday, May 14, 2007 at the Clearwater Nursing Center. Family graveside services will be held at Friendship Cemetery on Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 1:00 PM. Mrs. Bates was born in Donalsonville on March 3, 1926 to the late Benjamin Nathan and Annie Laurie McCarthy Smith. She was a member of West Shore Christian Church in Tampa, Fl and a restaurant owner. She is survived by one son-in-law, Jerry Etheridge of Crestview, FL and one sister, Juanita Ryle Griffin of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Sandy Etheridge. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
