We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Billy James Baker, age 85, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his daughters residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans-Skipper Funeral Home with Rev. Rollin Rathel officiating. Burial will follow at Salem-Seminole Baptist Church Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home. Mr. Baker was born in Donalsonville, GA on December 24, 1925 to the late Cleveland Loyd and Winnie Luvenia Faircloth Baker. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Donalsonville, a member of the VFW and he served his country in the US Navy and he was also a local distributor for Gulf Oil for many years. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Frasier Baker of Donalsonville, GA; two sons; Billy James Baker, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; Boley Elkins and his wife Rene of Climax; two daughters; Susan Baker Dahl and her husband Tommy of Bainbridge, GA; Sherry Elkins Chambless and her husband Henry of Donalsonville, GA; one brother Sammy Joe Baker and his wife Faye of Donalsonville, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-sons; Carlton Frasier; Wayne Frasier; two step-daughters; Carolyn Hanna; Debbie Lashley; and 3 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by his parents, a wife Lois Pitts Baker; and infant son; two brothers; Luther Baker; Cullen Baker; and a granddaughter Lori Bixon. Casketbearers will be Chris Miller, Brian Chambless, Bradley Chambless, Jamie Elkins, Jamie Baker, and Bobby Howard. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
