We regret to announce the passing of Dorothy Skipper, age 88, of Blakely, GA who passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, GA Funeral services will be held Friday, January 28, 2011 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Baptist Church in Blakely, GA with Rev. Fred Odom and Rev. Sterling Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Donalsonville, GA. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home in Donalsonville, GA. Mrs. Skipper was born in Miller County, GA on April 30, 1922 to the late Robert and Ida Bowen Lewis and was married to the late Leon Skipper. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Blakely, GA; a homemaker and loved to work in her yards. She is survived by one daughter, Melanie Foster and her husband Doyle of Blakely, GA; two grandsons, Tom Foster and his wife Carla of Donalsonville, GA; and Blake Foster of Blakely, GA; She is also survived by five great grandchildren; Jordan Foster, Rebekah Foster, Luke Foster, Jacob Porter and Nicholas Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert and Ida Bowen Lewis, her husband Leon Skipper; brother, Charliie M. Lewis; three sisters, Myrtle Bowen, Vinnie Louvina Lewis, Calista Lewis and nephew, Daulton Bowen. Active casketbearers will be Carlton Skipper, Ronnie Skipper, Emmitt Mock, Sterling Davis, Keith Bowen and Mike Widner. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
