We regret to announce the passing of Mrs. Nellie Ruth Howard Hornsby, age 91, of Donalsonville, GA who passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Seminole Manor Nursing Home in Donalsonville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church in Iron City, GA with Rev. Richard Trawick and Rev. Talmadge Worsley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 24, 2011 at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 PM. Mrs. Hornsby was born in Donalsonville, GA on February 27, 1919 to the late Oscar Lovering and Sarah Emma Goodwin Howard. She was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Hornsby’s favorite pastime was fishing. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Butch Hornsby of Donalsonville, GA; two daughters, June Gurr and her husband Billy of Albany, GA, and Amy Studdard and her husband Jerry of Thomasville, GA; and one son-in-law, Foster Wurst of Donalsonville, GA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Dee Wurst and his wife Dolly of Peachtree City, GA, Patrick Wurst and his wife Lisa of Albany, GA, Johnathan Wurst of Orlando, FL, Don Gurr and his wife Melinda of Madison, GA, Neal Gurr and his wife Pam of Suwanee, GA, Tracy Johnston and her husband Zack of Gordon, AL, Kelly Hornsby and his wife Anita of Warner Robins, GA, Holly Whitehead of Leesburg, GA, Wade Hornsby and his wife Michelle of Millbrook, AL, Jerry Studdard and his wife Dana of Willamsburg, VA and Michael Studdard and his wife Denise of Denver, NC; as well as numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lovering Howard and Sarah Emma Godwin Howard; her husband, Eldridge E. Hornsby, Jr.; a daughter, Pat Wurst; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Hornsby; two brothers, Lewis Howard and Edward Howard; and two sisters, Eunice Willams and Johnnie Pugh. Active casketbearers will be Dee Wurst, Patrick Wurst, Johnathan Wurst, Don Gurr, Neal Gurr, Kelly Hornsby, Wade Hornsby, Jerry Studdard, Michael Studdard, and Zack Johnston.
