We regret to announce the passing of Mr. Collie McKemie Cook, age 88, of Pansey, AL who passed away Sunday evening, January. 2, 2011 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL. Funeral services for Mr. Cook will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM CST at Springhill Freewill Baptist Church in Gordon, AL with burial to follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Doug Carr and Rev. Thomas Kirkland officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, January 4, 2011 from 4:00-7:00 PM CST at the church. Mr. Cook was born on June 10, 1922 to the late Harvey J. and Thelma Jeffcoat Cook He was a member of Springhill Freewill Baptist Church, American Legion Post 12 and a life member of DAV. He served his county in the US Army during World War II. He worked as a pipe fitter and was a farmer. He had lived on Hwy 75 for the past 52 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of almost 54 years, Inez Glisson Cook of Pansey, AL, one daughter, Cathy Cook Sumlar and her husband Bobby of Pansey, AL; a grandson, Eric Sumlar and his wife Cameron of Gordon, AL; a granddaughter Sheena Sumlar of Pansey, AL two great grandchildren and the joy of his life Shelby Laine Sumlar of Pansey, AL and Williams Alexander “Xander” Sumlar of Gordon, AL.; and a sister Lottie Mae Fields of Phoenix City, AL. He was preceded in his parents, Harvey J, and Thelma Jeffcoat Cook and a brother, Azell Mckemie. Casketbearers will be Tommy Whitehead, Danny Hicks, Harrell Clark, Tim Harper, Gary Sumlar and Steven Moore. Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
